IIT Jodhpur is committed to the development of state of the art, research-led, multidisciplinary centres of excellence. Scholars from diverse disciplines engage in a spectrum of research activities ranging from the scientific to the aesthetic. We at IIT Jodhpur believe that the need of the hour is to establish a consilience between arts and sciences in particular.

A premier technological institute, IIT Jodhpur provides us with immense opportunities to witness and evaluate the interaction, transformation and integration that occur between technology, society and humanity. We therefore believe that a program in the promotion of Arts, Culture and Heritage, bears testimony to this synthesis which is the vision of IIT Jodhpur.

On this basis we propose to incorporate Minor courses in the broad areas of Art, Culture and Heritage with a technological perspective, thereby creating an academic space for interdisciplinary research. We believe that students from various disciplines - engineering, social sciences and arts - are capable of using their complementary skills to teach each other to develop novel devices and systems, which can be used in the preservation and sustenance of art, culture and heritage respectively.

This workshop is an attempt to study and understand these syntheses that can occur between fine arts and technology. Therefore we believe that invaluable experience, valuable inputs and insights from the experts will make a significant difference towards the formulation of curriculum and interdisciplinary research in this proposed center.
