My research group primarily works in the areas of wavelet and fractional transform analysis, of which I am interested in both pure and applied aspects. On the pure aspect, I am interested in proposing the new construction process for wavelets and fractional transform analysis. On the applied aspect, my broad interest lies in the application of my expertise in computer science, particularly, Information security, Biometrics, Information Fusion, Image Segmentation and Image Completion. Before starting with my research contributions, let me mention that I have a wide variety of interests and that I am often open to new collaborations and new problems.

WAVELET AND FRACTIONAL TRANSFORM THEORY

The wavelet analysis is a fundamental tool in time-frequency analysis due to its amiable property of localizing a function in both time and frequency. On thecontrary, fractional transform analysis has a unique property of describing theinformation as a combination of time and frequency domain, due to the arbitrary rotation of the time-frequency plane. In my work, I tried to consolidate these to get a more versatile tool for time-frequency analysis. In a series of contributions, I have investigated and contributed several new transforms namely, dual-parameter fractional Fourier transform, random multiresolution SVD, fractional wavelet transform, redundant fractional wavelet transform, fractional wavelet packet transform, fractional dual tree complex wavelet transform, fractional random wavelet transform and parameterized all phase orthogonal transformation.

MULTIMEDIA SECURITY: ENCRYPTION, HASHING AND WATERMARKING

In the digital era, the substantial proliferation of open access network and communication technologies has influenced the way information is gathered and processed. This has lead to increase in sharing of multimedia data such as image, audio and video up to significant level & has become widespread practice between the end users. However, this convenience comes with some security and privacy concerns. The issues regarding illegal copying, distribution, duplication, malicious modification and forgery have increased due to the ease of accessing the sophisticated software. Therefore, protection of digital media is one of the major challenge to the information security intoday's scenario. This motivates us to develop some standard and robust solutionwhich enhance the overall security of the digital media by preventing these issues. One of the technical solutions is to make it law informants. This can be achieved by some practical solutions like image hashing, encryption and digital watermarking. The goal of my research work is to investigate and analyse various aspects in the image security and explore the techniques for image security while ensuring the integrity, confidentiality and trustworthiness of the multimedia.

INFORMATION FUSION

The information science research associated with the development of sensory system focuses mainly on how information about the world can be extracted from the sensory data. In general, a single sensor is not sufficient to provide an accurate view of the real world. Hence for the improvement, the concept of multiple sensors was presented and the obtained information from different sensors is used to combine by information fusion. The combined information is more suitable for segmentation, feature extraction, objectrecognition, and Human Visual System from the original ones. In a series of contributions, we have proposed different multi-sensor fusion algorithms specifically designed for different applications, including, medical imaging, concealed weapon detection, navigation and surveillance.

FLOOR-PLAN ANALYSIS AND RETREVIAL

Graphical documents are human made instruments of communication that convey complex concepts using rich diagrammatic information. Floor plans are one of the type of graphical document which shows the structural planning and visually model the structure of a building. In architecture a floor plan is drawing to scale, showing a view from above of the relationship between rooms, spaces and other feature at one level of a structure. Understanding a graphical document require three steps: (1) Understanding/recognizing the symbols and denotations contained in it. As a floor plan contains various symbols example, symbols of walls, door, windows, and furniture (Low level Analysis), (2) Identifying the relation between different symbols. Understanding the structure of the floor plan. (Mid level Analysis) and (3) Understanding the relation between different types of rooms and other entities. Extracting the fine grain details (High level Analysis).
