  • Elected as Vice-President of the Plasma Science Society of India (PSSI) in its newly formed Executive Council for the term 2022-2024.

Prizes/Awards

  • Received the Year-2022 Jaidutt Saraswati Sodha PSSI Plasma Award for significant contributions to low-temperature plasma applications particularly for clean air, water purity, environmental safety, and efficient energy systems. The award is given to Indian Scientists annually, below the age of 50 years, who have made significant research contributions through publications in reputed journals in plasma physics (ranging from fundamental phenomena to novel applications, thermonuclear fusions, etc.).
  • Received Foundation Day Award for Recognition of Excellence in Research as Team Member of the project entitled "Pseudospark Discharged Electron Beam Driven Compact Plasma Assisted Slow Wave Oscillator" Conferred on 21st September 2018 by CSIR-Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute, Pilani.
  • Received best paper award in the 27th National Symposium on Plasma Science and Technology (Plasma-2012) organized at Pondicherry University, Puducherry during 10-13 December, 2012.
  • Received "Vishesh Vaigyanik Rajbhasha Vishishtha Samman" for contributions in Hindi in the area of science and technology which was awarded by Bharatiya Rajbhasha Vikas Sansthan, Dehradun during a national conference on "Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sangosti" held at Shimla, India during 10-12 October 2012.
  • Received 2nd Prize for paper presentation in the “First International Conference on Plasma Processing of Organic Materials and Polymers (PPOMP)” held at Mahatama Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala, India during 25-27 Nov, 2011.
  • Research paper nominated for ENI International Award 2011 entitled “Calibration of a VUV spectrograph by Collisional-Radiative modeling of a discharge plasma” authored by Ram Prakash et al. J. Phys. B: At. Mol. Opt. Phys. 5 July 43 (2010) 144012(5pp). The Eni Enrico Mattei Foundation, Italy, initiates the award.
  • SERC Fast Track young scientist award for the year 2003-04 from DST, Govt. of India. This award contained a three years independent project (i.e. under own principal investigatorship) to implement a few innovative ideas on computational quantitative plasma spectroscopy for fusion research in India.
  • First prize for best scientific paper in the 15th National plasma symposium Plasma-2000, held at SINP Calcutta, India during 5-8 December 2000.
  • Plasma Science Society of India (PSSI) research grant award in year 1998- 1999.
  • First prize for overall performance in the IVth SERC School held at “Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad (Gujarat) during April 6-29, 1998 on the topic “Electromagnetic Probing of Upper Atmosphere”.

Fellowships received

  1. Received “Better Opportunities for Young Scientists in Chosen Areas of Science and Technology (BOYSCAST)” fellowship from Department of Science and Technology (DST) Govt. of India for the year 2005-06. Under this scheme, an advance research on “Quantitative plasma spectroscopy and impurity transport in Tokamak plasma” was carried out at Max-Planck-Institute fur Plasmaphysik, Garching, Germany during 1st March 2006 to 30th August 2006.
  2. Received Post Doctoral Fellowship from Institute for Plasma Research, Gandhinagar (DAE, GoI organization) during July 2002 to Sep 2004.
  3. Received Senior Research Fellowship from Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Govt. of India during April 2000 to June 2002.

  • Best paper award on research paper "DBD Plasma Based High-Efficiency Indoor Air Purifier" authored by Ramavtar Jangra, Kiran Ahlawat, Ambesh Dixit, and Ram Prakash for the oral presentation by Ramavtar Jangra in the 37th National Symposium on Plasma Science and Technology (Plasma-2022) held at IIT Jodhpur during 12-14 December, 2022.
  • Best paper award on research paper "Indigenous High Power Pseudospark Switches for Fast Pulse Power Applications" authored by R. P. Lamba, U. N. Pal, and Ram Prakash for the best oral presentation by Mr. R. P. Lamba in the 36th National Symposium on Plasma Science and Technology (Plasma-2021) held at Birla Institute of Technology, Jaipur during 13-15 December, 2021.
  • BUTI Young Scientist Award on research paper “Optimization Studies of Pseudospark Sourced Electron Beam for Development of Plasma Assisted Slow Wave Oscillator” authored by Niraj Kumar, Udit Narayan Pal and Ram Prakash, given to Ph.
