Dr. Samya Sen, Postdoc My name is Samya Sen. I have completed my B.Sc. in Microbiology (2011) from Rastraguru Surendranath College, Barrackpore (West Bengal State University) and M.Sc. in Microbiology (2013) from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata (University of Calcutta) where I was conferred with the prestigious Fr. Franz Goreux S.J. Memorial Gold Medal. Thereafter, I joined the University of Kalyani and earned my Ph.D. in antibacterial nanotechnology and drug resistance in 2021. I joined the SG group @IITJ in March 2022, and am currently working on antimicrobial peptides/small molecules to mitigate antibiotic resistance development against ESKAPE pathogens. Nabanita Mukherjee, Ph.D. Student I am Nabanita Mukherjee. I have completed my M.Sc in Organic Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology Shibpur in 2017 and served as a DBT JRF(project) in Indian Institute of Chemical Biology. I have joined the SG group at the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur on 22nd July 2019. Surojit Ghosh, Ph.D. Student I did my B.Sc. Hons(chemistry) from the University of Calcutta (2014) and M.Sc. (2016 in organic chemistry) from Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda centenary college (Rahara) then I later worked for two years in Industry at TCG Lifesciences Kolkata, and Jubilant chemsys, Noida. Meanwhile, I Qualified GATE and NET LS and joined the SG group in July 2019. My broad area of interest includes the design and synthesis of small molecules and peptide based therapeutics for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). Shubham Garg, Ph.D. Student I did my Master’s in Biotechnology from Central University of Rajasthan. During my M.Sc. project, I worked on nanoparticles mediated drug delivery and its application in wound healing. Meanwhile, I joined the SG group in July 2019. I am broadly interested in the use of nanoparticles to interrogate the biological systems and looking forward to applying Nanobiotechnology to unanswered questions of Alzheimer’s Disease. Rajsekhar Roy, Ph.D Student Hello everyone, I have completed my M.S.(Pharm.) in medicinal Chemistry from National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research(NIPER)-Kolkata. During my Masters project years at CSIR-IICB my efforts were directed toward developing multitargeted peptide-based component which can alter the Aβ-42 mediated toxicity in Alzheimer’s disease. I have joined the group here at IIT-Jodhpur in January, 2020. Here I will be focusing my work on applying the interface of chemical, biophysical, and molecular/cellular biology approaches to understand how protein misfolding and aggregation contribute to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) on a molecular level. Debasmita Nandi, CSIR-JRF I have completed B.Sc and M.Sc in Zoology from University of Calcutta, West Bengal. After qualifying CSIR, ICMR and GATE, I have joined SG Lab, IITJ in 2021 with the zeal for perceiving neuroscience at the biology-chemistry interface level. My research interest involves studying different nervous system injuries, specifically traumatic brain injury and its underlying pathophysiological mechanism in order to find its therapeutic lead through the development of peptide hydrogel. Umar Arshi, Ph.D. Student I have completed my B.Sc degree from Patna University and M.Sc from University of Hyderabad in Biotechnology. My research interest involves exploring the potential of small molecule-based therapeutics for utrophin upregulation in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). My research focuses on mitigating the detrimental secondary symptoms caused by the primary loss of dystrophin by regulating uncontrolled inflammation through innovative small-molecule treatments.
