Technical Society IIT Jodhpur

Overview

TO CREATE and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world. TO PROMOTE the principles of good government and good citizenship. TO TAKE an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community. TO UNITE the clubs in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship, and mutual understanding.

Events

People Counter
We always dream to design a product which could bring a change in social life of people and help people in their daily basis and thus electronics club bring to you People Counter where you will be designing a prototype of a system which can count the number of people present in the building/hall/room.
Technovation
In this event you have to present your idea and logic implementation of a game show circuit using only logic gates (AND, OR, NOT, NAND, NOR etc.), multiplexers, encoders, encoders, flip-flops and 7-seg displays and LEDs/buzzers. You can use any logic device mentioned above to build your system and 555timer IC for clock generation.
Anti-Theft Alarm
You have to design an Anti-Theft Alarm that can alert you if your bag gets snatched away or misplaced.

Digital Code Lock
It is an on the spot event in which the user will have to connect his mobile phone to the system and enter the password to open the lock. The entry of correct password should be indicated by a distinguished output. Then the user is required to direct infrared beam at the detector that will trigger the circuit to show completion of successful entry of password.
LIGHT FOLLOWING BOT
Task is to built a light follower robot without microcontroller.Bot will follow light in a particular path (arena) and reach destination in minimum time...

Projects

Here lists the undergoing projects under Robotics Club. These projects are beingdone by students of different domains sharing similar interests.
Airport Handling Design

ProblemStatement:
A Practical Problem makes you think more of a real circumstances suppose that you have been hired by the Jodhpur airport authorities to expand their simultaneous handling of baggage to 3 planes at a time. You have to design a baggage handling conveyor belt to transport baggage to respective planes.
Skills Acquired:
1. GUI interfacing with Arduino.
2. Wheel encoder design.
3. Wheel encoder interface with Arduino
4. Servo interfacing with Arduino

Explanation: Create a GUI between Arduino and PC using any programming language which specifies 3 different positions. When a button in the GUI is pressed then, conveyor should deliver the object to corresponding location. At that location, there should be a mechanism to unload the object.

Steps: This event will take place in three steps.
1. Designing an encoder for position tracking.
2. Position control using wheel encoders.
3. Interface between PC and Arduino for controlling servos and wheel encoders.

Password Based Circuit Breaker

Problem Statement: To increase the security levels of the prison, one day the jailer of the prison thought to design a system, through which he can access the prison cells , through a password only which he knows. Now thinking you are the jailer, design a system (circuit) through which only you can open and close the prison cell with a unique password assigned to each prison cell.

Skills acquired:
1. 8051 microcontroller programming
2. Uses of relay and circuit breakers
3. Programming microcontrollers

Technovation

Introduction: Technical Skills can get you a job but Soft Skills can make you the Manager.

Problem Statement : In this event you have to present your idea and logic implementation of a game show circuit using only logic gates (AND, OR, NOT, NAND, NOR etc.), multiplexers, encoders, encoders, flip-flops and 7-seg displays and LEDs/buzzers. You can use any logic device mentioned above to build your system and 555timer IC for clock generation.

Event Specification

In the show, two contestants are pitted against each other in the knockout round. After the time starts, all are required to enter different rooms, lock the door, complete the task in the room and then sound the buzzer. After the completion of round, the winner and runner-up are to be determined and the result shown on seven-segment displays. If there is a tie, both will be declared as winner. Following are the criterion for disqualification of a contestant. If a contestant is disqualified, it is to be displayed on the seven-segment display.Once a contestant enters the room after the start of timer, he is not allowed to go out before the completion of the round, otherwise he shall be disqualified. If a contestant is not able to complete the task 5 min after the time started, an alarm should sound meaning disqualification of that contestant and also completion of round. You are the director of the show, and require to design a digital circuit that ensures smooth functioning of the show with all the specified features.

MATLAB

MATLAB (matrix laboratory) is a multi-paradigm numerical computing environment and fourth-generation programming language.MATLAB allows matrix manipulations, plotting of functions and data, implementation of algorithms, creation of user interfaces, and interfacing with programs written in other languages, including C, C++, C#, Java, Fortran and Python.

8051 Microcontroller

IT is 40 pin IC 8051 The Intel 8051 is an 8-bit microcontroller which means that most available operations are limited to 8 bits. There are 3 basic "sizes" of the 8051: Short, Standard, and Extended. The Short and Standard chips are often available in DIP (dual in-line package) form, but the Extended 8051 models often have a different form factor, and are not "drop-in compatible".

Raspberry Pi

The Raspberry Pi is a series of credit card-sized single-board computers developed in the United Kingdom by the Raspberry Pi Foundation to promote the teaching of basic computer science in schools and developing countries. The original model got way more popular than anticipated, outside of the target market; enthusiasts use it, and the later models, for various uses, such as robotics
